Carter Cup 2011 - Saturday 10th September - Akrotiri, Cyprus

In conjunction with the 2011 RAF Akrotiri Station Fun Day.

"I look forward with eager anticipation to this year's historic 40th Carter Cup Tournament. Following on from the enormous success of last year's revamped competition, this year's event promises to deliver further improvements. It is a testimony to the enduring popularity of the Carter Cup that that this year's event marks the 40th year of competition, a truly remarkable feat in this day and age!

The 7-a-side format introduced last year produced a number of exhilarating, fast paced, competitive football games - which made for a great spectacle for the supporters. I encourage as many entitled players to participate, form a team and enter the competition on Sat 10 Sep 2011.

The CSFA(C) would like to thank all those involved in bringing this Event together and a special thank you goes to the Referees' Association, who have done a superb job with the overall event organisation and management. Because of their efforts the Carter Cup is now officially the showcase football event that heralds the start of the Cyprus Services' Football Season 2011/12. This is also a superb charities fund raisers for many good causes and your support on the day will help make this Tournament even more successful.

Finally, I would also like to extend a very warm welcome, on behalf of the Station Commander and President of CSFA(C), Group Captain Barrie Thomson, to all those taking part in the competition; officials, players and hopefully plenty of spectators. It also coincides with the RAF Akrotiri's Station Fun Day so entitled personnel are strongly encouraged to come along and enjoy the two events running in tandem!"
